PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's lightweight crew was unable to match last weekend's sweep of Navy and Columbia Saturday morning at Lake Carnegie, as Georgetown came north and won the first varsity race by less than three seconds. It was the final race of the day and the only win for the Hoyas, as Princeton claimed each of the first three races.
The Tigers opened the day with a win, as their third varsity boat routed the Georgetown second freshman boat. Princeton followed with wins in the first freshman race and the second varsity race, but Georgetown won the big one, finishing the first varsity eights in 5:58.3, topping Princeton's time of 6:00.89.
The men's lightweights will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., next weekend to compete against Cornell.
