Pauly, Chernoff Named To Verizon Academic All-District Team

Princeton, N.J. - Junior pitcher Thomas Pauly senior shortstop Mike Chernoff were named first and second team all-district selections today in the Verizon All-Academic program.
Pauly makes his second appearance on an All-District team. Last season he was selected to the second team. This season he has appeared in 15 games and has a 5-1 record and has one complete game shutout and has shared in two more. He has five saves on the season and has struck out 60 batters in 39 innings. He has allowed 25 hits, five runs and 14 walks. Pauly is just six innings away from being eligible for the national statistics and once he is eligible, his numbers would rank him third in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (13.8) and first in ERA (0.92). He has been named the Ivy League and New Jersey pitcher of the week twice. Last season, he was also a third-team all-America.
Chernoff is the Tigers everyday shortstop and is currently batting .238 in 43 games played this season. He has 30 hits and 15 RBIs batting out of the ninth spot in the batting order. Ha also has 19 runs scored and has tallied three doubles. He has also been strong in the field as he has a .945 fielding percentage this season, committing only nine errors in 156 chances.
Princeton (25-20) resumes action this weekend when the Tigers welcome Harvard to Clarke Field for the Ivy League Championship Series. The winner of the best-of-three series will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader will be $5 per adult and $3 per senior/child. If the series continues on Sunday, tickets will be $3 for adults and $2 per senior/child. Students from participating schools are admitted free with ID.
