Princeton, N.J. - Junior pitcher Thomas Pauly was named a first team all-Ivy for the second consecutive season today by the Ivy League. Senior third baseman Jon Miller and sophomore centerfielder B.J. Szymanski were named second team all-Ivy, while sophomore first baseman Ryan Eldridge was an honorable mention.
Pauly has appeared in 15 games and has a 5-1 record and has one complete game shutout and has shared in two more. He has five saves on the season and has struck out 60 batters in 39 innings. He has allowed 25 hits, five runs and 14 walks. Pauly is just six innings away from being eligible for the national statistics and once he is eligible, his numbers would rank him third in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (13.8) and first in ERA (0.92). He has been named the Ivy League and New Jersey pitcher of the week twice. Last season, he was also a third-team all-America and is a two-time academic all-district. Miller currently leads the Tigers in several offensive categories after making the transition to third base mid-season. Miller is batting .338 with 12 doubles, 32 runs scored, two home runs and 29 RBIs. He has started a team-high 42 games and is second on the team in hits.
Szymanski made his debut for the Tigers this spring after not playing baseball his freshman spring. He is currently batting .329 in the 41 games he has played. He has a team-high 52 hits, 37 runs scored and six triples, while placing second with 27 RBIs.
Eldridge is currently hitting .330 and has 19 RBIs. He has 35 hits and two home runs on the season. It's his second season earning all-Ivy recognition. Last season he was named to the second-team.
Princeton (25-20) resumes action this weekend when the Tigers welcome Harvard to Clarke Field for the Ivy League Championship Series. The winner of the best-of-three series will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader will be $5 per adult and $3 per senior/child. If the series continues on Sunday, tickets will be $3 for adults and $2 per senior/child. Students from participating schools are admitted free with ID.
