PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton water polo goalie Peter Sabbatini is one of 14 players selected to the Junior Men's World Championship team for the summer of 2003.
The tournament is scheduled for August 8-17 in Naples, Italy and is composed of 19 teams across the world. The United States team begins play in Group C with host Italy and last year's Junior Pan American champion Brazil. The defending champion is Greece, which the U.S. will not have to face in the first round.
Sabbatini recently finished his sophomore year at Princeton, where he was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Team for his performance in goal. He was the team's starting goalie, recording five saves in the CWPA Southern Championship match and 15 saves against UCLA earlier in the season. The Tigers ended the season with a 20-9 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the CWPA.
