Hanover, N.H. - The Princeton women's golf team set a team record for a two-round tournament as the Tigers defeated 17 opponents at the two-round tournament at the Hanover Country Club. Princeton earned the win off the heels of first-place finisher Avery Kiser who shot a two-under 71 to claim the tournament championship.
Princeton won the event in its first outing of the fall season, defeating second-place Boston College by 27 strokes. The Tigers shot a 300 on Day 2 of the tournament, which combined with Saturday's 299, put the Tigers at 599 for the tournament. That number sets a record for Princeton's team score in a 36-hole tournament.
Boston College had a 626 to place second. St. John's, Dartmouth and Brown rounded out the top-five finishers. On the individual side, Princeton had three of the tournament's top-four finshers. Kiser shot a 71 today, which added to her even-par 73 on Saturday, put her two-under for the tournament. Tiger freshman Sharla Cloutier shot par on Day 2 of the tournament to finish second overall, three off the pace set by Kiser, and one-over for the whole tournament. Meg Nakamura shot one better on Sunday than she did on Saturday to record a 151 for the tournament and place fourth overall.
Other Princeton golfers at the tournament included Esty Dwek (157), Alexis Etow (162), Christina Norair (163) and Taryn Haladay (166).
The women's return to the links in two weekends when the Tigers host the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club.
