PRINCETON, N.J. - Chris Kelsch stole the ball and set up Dan McKenna for the game-winning goal in sudden death, helping the men's water polo team to a 7-6 win at Navy. The Tigers defeated Johns Hopkins earlier in the day and are now a perfect 6-0 this season.
Princeton led 1-0 after the first quarter against Navy, 4-3 at the half and 5-3 after the third but the Midshipmen rallied in the final minutes to tie the score, 6-6, at the end of regulation. Jamal Motlagh and John Stover each scored twice for the Tigers. Neither team scored in the two overtime periods until McKenna's goal in sudden death.
Peter Sabbatini led the defensive effort for Princeton with 20 saves in goal.
"Twenty saves in a game is pretty impressive," head coach Luis Nicolao said. "It was a great defensive performance and a great game."
Princeton plays Bucknell tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Navy.
