Harrisonburg, Va. - The Princeton men's golf team finished third overall after Sunday's final round of the James Madison Invitational at the Lakeview Golf Course. John Sawin and Creighton Page were the top Tigers on the individual leaderboard as they tied for fifth.
Princeton shot a 282 on the final day for a three-round 848, which was nine stroke off of first-place Towson and four behind second-place Rutgers. Princeton finished ahead of St. Joseph's and tournament-host James Madison in the 15-team field.
Towson's Jeff Castle blistered the course with a 63 to claim the individual top spot. Sawin and Page were the top Tigers on the leaderboard as the two tied for fifth-place. Sawin shot a 70 on Sunday to complete the tournament with a 209, which Page reached by shooting a 68 Sunday morning. Brent Herlihy made it three Tigers in the top 10 as his final-round 70 gave him a 212 and a tie for 10th place.
Jason Gerken tied for 36th after a final-round 74 for a 219, while John Locke was 58th after his final round of 77 for a tournament total of 224.
The Tigers compete in the Big 5 Classic next weekend in Philadelphia.
