Philadelphia, Pa. - The Princeton men's golf team earned its first tournament win of the fall season with a 10-stroke win in this weekend's Big 5 Classic held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Jason Gerken took the individual medal for the tournament, finishing at par after two rounds of 71.
The Tigers edged William & Mary by 10 strokes after a final round of 293. That, coupled with an opening round 296, gave Princeton a 589 for the 36-hole tournament. Behind William & Mary, Penn State, Georgetown and St. Joseph's completed the top five in the 13-team field.
Gerken led a strong group of Tigers as four of them placed in the top 10. Brent Herlihy was third (+5), while John Sawin and Creighton Page tied for sixth (+8). David Huestis (+23) was 60th.
Princeton completes the fall portion of its schedule next weekend at the Georgetown Invitational.
