Men's Water Polo Splits Games on Final Day of Nor Cal Tournament

Stockton, Calif. - For the second consecutive day, the Princeton men's water polo team split its pair of games at the Nor Cal Tournament, hosted by Pacific. Princeton won its morning game 10-9 over UC Davis in overtime and dropped its afternoon contest to Long Beach State 10-7.
In the opener UC Davis held a two-goal edge at halftime, but a three-goal Tiger third quarter gave the Tigers the lead by a goal entering the fourth quarter. Davis scored three times in that quarter to Princeton's two which caused an overtime session in which the Tigers scored twice to post a 10-9 win. Reid Joseph and Dan Stover led the scoring with three goals apiece, while Peter Sabbatini made nine saves.

Later in the afternoon Princeton faced Long Beach State and fell to the 49ers 10-7. Long Beach jumped to a 5-3 lead by the half and extended its lead over the final two quarters for a 10-7 win. Stover led the Tigers with four goals while Nicholas Seaver added a pair.

Princeton is now 12-4 on the season and returns to action on Oct. 16 when the Tigers meet Johns Hopkins, Salem International and Bucknell all at Navy.
