TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Led by a 20th-place finish from junior standout Cack Ferrell, the Princeton women's cross country team finished in 18th place at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship Monday morning at Indiana State University.
Ferrell's time of 20:57 was just 30 seconds behind the second-place time of Colorado's Renee Metevier. She was one of just 25 runners to finish the 6,000-meter course in less than 21 minutes.
Meredith Lambert also had a strong performance for the Tigers at the meet, finishing 61st overall in a time of 21:33.
Colorado won the team title by an impressive margin over second-place Duke. Providence's Kim Smith was the individual winner, finishing the course in 20:09 for an 18-second victory.
Three other Tiger runners finished in a tight pack to score for Princeton. Mia Swenson was 145th in 22:21, Carrie Strickland was just two seconds behind that in 153rd and Suzanne Andrews was just eight seconds behind Strickland in 166th.
Heather Iaturo also ran for Princeton, finishing 180th in 22:41, while Marian Bihrle was 233rd in 23:36.
