PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Tigers (4-5) resume their non-conference schedule after a festive winter break at Fairleigh Dickinson (1-7) in Hackensack, N.J. on Thursday, Dec. 30. The game has been moved up to a 5:30 tip-off and can be heard at goprincetontigers.com.
Princeton Game Notes
A Time To Reflect - Princeton went 2-1, at home before the winter break, with wins over New Orleans (47-36) and Mount St. Mary's (79-58), but fell to St. Mary's 56-46. Junior Becky Brown recorded a season-high 21 points, as the Tigers produced their best scoring output of the season with the 21-point win over the Mount. Junior Katy O'Brien contributed 12, while freshman Ariel Rogers chipped in 10 off the bench in the victory. Conference Rulings - Princeton is 24-14 all-time against the Northeast Conference and 4-4 under head coach Richard Barron, following the win over Mount St. Mary's this season.
Injury Report - Senior Kristin Lynch left the New Orleans contest in the first half due to an injury to her knee. She will rehab her knee and is probable for a return this season. Sophomore Casey Lockwood continues to make an ACL recovery and looks to return to the hardwood in January.
Making It Known - Junior Becky Brown made her presence felt in the Mount St. Mary's game. She went a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line, shot a .615 from the field and grabbed six rebounds en route to her season-best 21-point game.
When It Counts - Junior Katy O'Brien went 0-7 in the first 39:58 of the Monmouth contest, but with the team down three and two ticks left on the clock she made her first field goal of the game and sent it into overtime with a three-pointer after a screen found her open in the corner.
Never Forget - Last season's All-Rookie selection Katy Digovich has picked up where she left off from a season ago. Digovich leads the team in scoring (10.8) and was the only Tiger to score in double figures in the first four games this season. She dropped 17 points against Monmouth, 15 at Lehigh, 16 on Wake Forest and finished with 13 against Georgia Tech.
Diaper Dandy - Freshman Meagan Cowher earned her third Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolade on Dec. 13, second-consecutive honor. She scored 12 points against Rutgers on Wednesday and 15 points in the 63-53 win over Wagner the week prior. Her first accolade came after she made her collegiate debut with a double-double, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime thriller against Monmouth.
Lights Out - Junior Katy O'Brien scored 15 points, all from three-point range, in the 68-46 loss to 20th-ranked Rutgers. She tallied 11 treys in a two-game stretch (Wagner & Rutgers) and posted 36 points, all from converting on the three-ball, including the season high 18 points off the bench at Wagner.
Earning Prestige - Meagan Cowher currently ranks second among her teammates in scoring (10.4) and first in rebounds (4.6) per game. She is also among the Ivy League's top-six in field goal percentage (.457).
Defense Is Key - Coming into this game, Princeton is third in the league in scoring defense (58.1). The Tigers held Monmouth to just 30.4 percent shooting from the field in the first half and caused 12 turnovers. Against Georgia Tech, the Tigers limited the Yellow Jackets to only 11 percent shooting on the three-ball in the first half.
Second Chance Opportunities - Princeton's opponents have tallied a 124-80 advantage on the offensive glass. The second chances have led to more baskets in the paint and moreover Princeton has been out-rebounded 355-280 in the last nine games.
Gone With The Wind - Junior Katy O'Brien garnered a career-high five steals in the St. Mary's contest. She leads all Tigers with 20 steals on the season.
Stepping Up - Freshman Ariel Rogers played in a season-high 30 minutes versus then 20th-ranked Rutgers. Prior to that contest she averaged nine minutes a game. Rogers tallied three assists, three rebounds, two points, two steals and one block in the game. Rogers then recorded a season-high 10 points in the Mount St. Mary's games. She went 6-6 from the free throw line and grabbed six rebounds, four offensive.
Charity Donors - Princeton has earned 115 opportunities to the foul line and converted on 68 of those chances. However, opponents have seen the free throw line 172 times this season.
