Baseball Suffers First Loss of Season at Duke

Durham, N.C. - The Princeton baseball team dropped its first game of the season Friday afternoon as Duke defeated the Tigers 8-1 at Jack Coombs Field. After a scoreless four innings, Duke scored three times in the fifth inning to take a lead they would never relinquish.
Junior Ross Ohlendorf started for Princeton and pitched five innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five. He is now 1-1 on the season after taking the loss. Senior Brian Biegen, junior Worth Lumry and junior Chad Tongue all pitched in relief.
Princeton's lone run came in the sixth inning. Senior Steve Young doubled, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of junior B.J. Szymanski. Young, Szymanski, senior Eric Fitzgerald and junior Adam Balkan were the only Tigers to earn hits in the game.
Princeton continues its sweries at Duke tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
