March 28, 2004 | Heavyweight Rowing
March 28, 2004
The Princeton heavyweight crew raced the second-fastest time of the morning Sunday at the Windermere College Classic, but the Tigers had the unfortunate luck of racing against the fastest boat. California nipped Princeton for the win, although the Tigers still ended the weekend with a solid showing.
The No. 3 Tigers, who swept Navy and Yale in the Saturday session, raced in 5:40.47. California, which is tied with Princeton for No. 3 in the poll, raced in 5:38.80 for the win. The Princeton second varsity had a strong time of 5:58.60, but it also fell to California in its race.
The five-time defending national champion Princeton women's lightweight crew completed a 3-0 weekend with a dominant win over Stanford. The Tigers raced in 6:51.80, while Stanford came in at 7:01.61.
