Ohlendorf and Fabian Recognized by Ivy league and NJCBA

Princeton, N.J. - For the second consecutive week, a pair of Princeton pitchers were honored as the Ivy League Pitcher and Rookie of the Week. This week the pair includes junior Ross Ohlendorf and freshman Gavin Fabian. The pair also earned the same recognition from the New Jersey College Baseball Association as the state's pitcher and rookie of the week.
Ohlendorf, a native of Austin, Texas, pitched a two-hit complete game shutout of Stony Brook last weekend. In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Seawolves. Ohlendorf allowed just four base-runners all afternoon and tied his career high with nine strikeouts. He is now 3-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA.
Fabian, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., earned a complete-game win in the second game of a doubleheader at Stony Brook Saturday afternoon. Fabian took a three-hit shutout into the bottom of the ninth before the Seawolves managed to muster a run off two hits in their final at-bat. Fabian struck out a season-high five batters in the game and improved to 2-1 with a 1.86 ERA. In 29 innings pitched this season, he has only walked one batter. Last weekend in the league's first weekly awards release, Princeton's other two weekend starters, sophomore Erik Stiller and freshman Eric Walz earned the same two league awards. With that, each of Princeton's four weekend starters has taken a weekly award this season.
Junior B.J. Szymanski was named to the league's honor roll for the second consecutive week. The Wichita Falls, Texas native went went 7-for-14 in Princeton's four games with Stony Brook to raise his batting average to .435. He had three extra-base hits in the series and scored a pair of runs including the go-ahead run in Saturday's 4-3 win.
News and Notes
-Princeton improved to 11-7 on the season after taking three of four games from Stony Brook over the weekend. On Saturday Princeton won twice, taking decisions of 2-0 and 4-3. Sunday, the Seawolves posted a 2-1 win in the first game before a 4-1 Tiger victory in Game 2.
-The Tigers posted their 11th win on Sunday in their 18th game of the season. Last season, Princeton's 11th win came on April 13 in their 26th game.
-The Tigers play one more non-conference game before the start of the Ivy League season next Saturday. Princeton meets Rutgers in that game on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Piscataway. Rutgers is currently 7-13 and plays Rider Tuesday afternoon before its meeting with princeton on Thursday.
-The Tigers pitching was the key to the weekend, as Princeton held the Seawolves under four runs in each game.

Stiller allowed three runs on six hits in the game and struck out seven for the second consecutive time this season. He is now 2-1 on the season with a 2.16 ERA. Junior Brian Kappel came in for the save in the game. He got the final sox batters out for his fourth save of the season.
-Freshman Gavin Fabian earned a complete-game win in the second game of a doubleheader at Stony Brook Saturday afternoon. -Freshman Eric Walz took the loss in game one on Sunday despite six strong innings in which he allowed two runs on seven hits as Princeton fell 2-1 to Stony Brook.
-Sophomore Matthew Becker accounted for the Princeton offense in the 2-0 win on Saturday. He hit a monstrous two-run home run in the fifth inning to lift the Tigers to victory. It was his second home run of the season.
-In Game 2 on Saturday, sophomore Andrew Salini led Princeton with a pair of RBIs including a single to score junior B.J. Szymanski with the winning run. Senior Steve Young and freshman Aaron Prince also had RBIs in the game.
-Senior Steve Young's two-run single put the Tigers up in the fifth inning as Princeton posted a 4-1 win in Sunday second game. Junior B.J. Szymanski had two hits and an RBI and freshman Sal Iacono had two hits and an RBI.
