Men's Golf 15 Strokes Ahead of Field After First Day of Ivy League Championships

Jackson, N.J. - The Princeton men's golf team used rounds of 310 and 313 to take a commanding 15 stroke lead on the field at the 2004 Ivy League Championships at the Metedeconk National Golf Club. Individually, the Tigers are also represented atop the leaderboard as John Sawin sits +5, two strokes ahead of second place.
The Tigers' collective 615 is 15 strokes better than Columbia's 630. Penn is third t 634, just ahead of Harvard and Yale. On the individual leaderboard, Sawin is two shots up on Columbia's Matthew Wong. Jason Gerken is +9 and is in a tie for third overall with Penn's Sean Barrett. Greg Johnson is tied for fitth at +10 and John Locke is tied for 13th at +16. Creighton Page is tied for 20th at +25.
The Tigers will look to regain the Ivy League title tomorrow when Day 2 of the Championships begin at 8 a.m.
