Princeton, N.J. - Wendy Bingham hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as Princeton defeated Brown 1-0 to cap an Ivy League sweep at Class of 1895 Field. The Tigers won the first game 2-1, improving to 19-14 overall and 5-3 in the Ivy League while Brown fell to 10-15 and 3-3.
In Game 1, Princeton took the first lead with two outs in the first inning when Erin Snyder hit a line drive single to center field, scoring Kristin Lueke, who walked.
Mary Sied led off the third with a single up the first base line, and advanced to second and third on a ground out and wild pitch. Jaimie Wirkowski's single to right field scored Seid to knot the game 1-1. The Tigers took the 2-1 lead in the fifth when Stephanie Steel grounded past second base with two outs to score Ty Ries, who walked.
Snyder (9-8) earned the win on the mound with three strikeouts while giving up four hits. Princeton also had four hits off Marissa Berkes (2-9), getting one apiece from Steel, Ries, Snyder and Wendy Bingham.
In the second game, Princeton pitcher Melissa Finley and Brown's Uchenna Omokaro gave up just three hits each in the first six innings for a scoreless game entering the seventh.
Erickson doubled to start the bottom of the seventh and Cobb-Adams sent Tiffany Wilson, pinch-running for Erickson, to third with a sacrifice bunt. Ries walked and stole second before Bingham drove home the walk-off winning run with a rocket past the short stop.
Lueke went 2 for 3 and Bingham, Erickson and Finley each had one hit for Princeton. Finley improved to 4-5 on the mound, striking out two and allowing just three hits.
Princeton hosts Yale tomorrow, April 19 at 1 p.m.
