Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team (18-13; 7-5 Ivy) returns to the field twice this week for mid-week contests against Monmouth (15-17-1; 8-3 NEC) and Seton Hall (8-24-1; 4-9 Big East).
Last weekend Princeton swept all four games from Columbia to improve to 7-5 in the Ivy League and climb to the top of the Gehrig Division standings. On Saturday, Princeton set two impressive offensive records as the Tigers posted a combined 33 runs in the doubleheader, setting a Princeton record for runs in a twin bill. The previous record was 30 and was accomplished three times, twice against Columbia and once against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Princeton record for homeruns in a game also fell on Saturday as Tim Lahey belted three of them in the second game of the doubleheader. The previous record was two in a game and had been accomplished 22 times, most recently by Ryan Reich last season against Dartmouth. It was a huge week altogether for Lahey. He went a combined 8-for-16 with nine RBIs, seven runs scored, four home runs, two doubles and five walks. Princeton continued to roll on Sunday thanks to stellar pitching, timely hitting and Columbia miscues in the field. The Tiger pitching staff tightened its belts and shut down Columbia on Sunday. In Game 1, Gavin Fabian needed just 81 pitched to dispose of Columbia. He surrendered just one run on five hits as he improved to 3-2 on the seasons. His performance lowered his ERA to 2.52 and in 50 innings of work, he has just two walks. In Game 2 Eric Walz allowed just three hits through six innings and Brian Biegen pitched the final three innings to record the save and complete the sweep. Andrew Salini was Sunday's offensive leader as he went 4-for-9 with three RBIs and two runs. He had the hit that plated the game-winning run in both ends of the doubleheader.

Monmouth enters Tuesday's game with a record of 15-17-1 overall and currently sit fourth at 8-3 in the Northeast Conference. The Hawks have played six straight games out-of-conference and enter the weekend going 4-2 in those games, most recently sweeping a doubleheader from NJIT and being swept at Pace.
Princeton and Monmouth have had two common opponents this season; Virginia Commonwealth and Rutgers. The Tigers split four games with VCU while Monmouth went 1-2 against the Rams. Both teams lost their lone game against Rutgers.
Princeton leads the all-time series against Monmouth 15-6 and has won the last three meetings. Last season the Tigers took both meetings from Monmouth, winning 2-0 on the road and 14-9 at home. In the 2-0 win, the Tigers limited Monmouth to four hits and Tim Lahey hit the game-winning home run. Lahey was again the star in the second meeting as he notched a grand slam in the win.

Princeton at Seton Hall
Owen T. Carroll Field
Wednesday's opponent, Seton Hall, enters the game with a record of 8-24-1 overall and is 4-9 in the Big East. The Pirates enter the week on the wrong end of their last six decisions, but play Rider on Tuesday prior to Wednesday's game. In that stretch Seton Hall was swept by UConn and Virginia Tech and dropped a mid-week game at Rider.
Last season Princeton defeated Seton Hall 5-3 in a game played at Clarke Field. The win snapped a four-game skid for the Tigers at the hands of the Pirates dating back to a 9-8 win in 1999. Reich had the game-winning hit last season as his two-run double broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh and the Tigers held on for the win. Junior Worth Lumry earned the win in the game.
