Men's Tennis Guts Out 4-3 Win at Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The Princeton men's tennis team won four of six singles matches, including a come-from-behind three-set victory by Darius Craton at No. 2, on the way to an exciting 4-3 victory over Penn in its Ivy League opener Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers, now 8-7, got wins at No. 6 singles by Tim Kofol and No. 4 from Andrew Lieu, both in straight sets. No. 1 player Dan Friedman also won in straight sets, defeating David Lynn 6-2 and 7-5. Craton lost the first set at No. 2 to Mikhail Bekker, but came back to winthe final two sets, losing just four games combined in those two sets.
Princeton's No. 3 player, freshman Sratha Saengsuwarn, went to three sets with Penn's Justin Lavner before falling in a tiebreak in the deciding set. Penn won the doubles point, getting close wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. Princeton's No. 1 team of Craton and Friedman defeated Todd Lecher and Justin Lavner of Penn, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles.
Princeton hosts Yale and Brown in Ivy League action next weekend at the Lenz Tennis Center.
