Chris Young To Make Major League Debut Tuesday Night

Princeton, N.J. - Former Princeton baseball/basketball player Chris Young '02 will make his Major League Baseball debut tomorrow night, Aug. 24, when he takes the mound for the Texas Rangers as they host the Minnesota Twins. Young will be the first Tiger to appear in a Major League game since Bob Tufts '77 closed out his professional career in 1983. Young began this season in Class AA ball in Frisco, Texas. He made 18 starts there and compiled a 6-5 record wth a 4.48 ERA in a hitters league, prompting his promotion to AAA Oklahoma. Since his promotion to AAA, Young has made five starts and has posted a 3-0 record with a 1.48 ERA. He has struck out 34 batters in just over 30 innings. Young will become the 23rd Princetonian to appear in a Major League Baseball game. Texas, a half-game out of first in the American League West and a full game behind Boston in the chase for the wildcard, will send Young to the mound to face Minnesota's Carlos Silva.
