Gerken Ties for Second Overall as Men's Golf Takes Sixth at Navy Fall Invitational

Annapolis, Md. - Jason Gerken shot a final-round 70 to finish in a four-way tie for second place in the Navy Fall Invitational this weekend. Princeton led the team standings after the first day of competition but dropped to sixth overall after today's second and final round.
The tournament was the season-opening competition for the Tigers and took place at the USNA Golf Course in Annapolis. The final standings were completely different than the standings after the first round. Towson took first overall in the event, followed by Winthrop, West Florida, Rutgers and Saint Joseph's in the top five. The TIgers were one stroke back of St. Joe's.
Individual medalist honors went to Saint Joseph's Sean Seese who turned in an Even 142 for the tournament. Seese entered the final round tied for second and just edged out four golfers to win. Gerken, the defending Ivy League champio, was second, tied with William & Mary's Tim Pemberton, Loyola's Matt Bassler, and Winthrop's Luke Elfner. Gerken shot a first-round 73 amd a second-round 70 to finish at 143, one over par.
The next Tiger in the rundown was John Sawin in a tie for 21st with a seven-over 149. Creighton Page tied for 27th with a 150, eight over par. Brent Herlihy and Jesse Dixon rounded out the standing for the Tigers, finishing in 78th and 84th, respectively.
Princeton next competes at the Sea Trail/Elon Invitational in Sunset Beach, N.C., on Sept. 25-26.
