Sunset Beach, N.C. - The Princeton men's golf team used a second-round 295 to climb five positions in the standings and finish seventh overall at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate at the Rees Jones Course. Princeton was in 12th after an opening round 304, but rallied to seventh during the second round of the 22-team tournament.
Rutgers claimed the top-spot in the event with a 579, which edged out George mason by just one stroke. Samford was another stroke back in third and Jacksonville was fourth with a 591. Tournament host Elon placed fifth at 597, while Drexel took sixth (598) and Princeton was seventh (599).
Jason Gerken was the lone Tiger to register a top 10 finish. He was +1 (72-73--145) for the tournament and placed 10th, seven strokes back. John Sawin shot tied for 21st (73-76--149), Creighton Page was tied for 34th (80-71--151), Brent Herlihy was tied for 56th (80-75--155) and Jesse Dixon tied for 65th (79-77--156).
The Tigers resume play in two weekends at the James Madison Invitational.
