Princeton, N.J. - With the start of Princeton's baseball season six weeks away, two Tiger players, sophomore pitcher Gavin Fabian and senior outfielder Will Venable, were selected by Baseball America as members of the preseason all-conference team. The teams were announced in the January issue of the magazine.
Fabian made 11 starts and posted a 4-3 record last season with a 3.48 ERA. He allowed 85 hits and 29 earned runs in 75 innings pitched, walking only four batters and striking out 38. He was the New Jersey College Baseball Association's Rookie of the Year.
Venable appeared in 26 games last season, starting 23 in the outfield and as the designated hitter. Venable, also a First-Team All-Ivy guard for the Ivy League Champion Tiger basketball team, joined the team following the completion of the Princeton basketball season. He batted .344 with 33 hits and 20 RBIs and was an honorable-mention All-Ivy and first-team All-NJCBA.
The Princeton baseball season kicks off on Saturday, March 5, at Richmond.
