NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Princeton men's swimming & diving team split its annual H-Y-P meet this past weekend. The Tigers, who will enter next month's EISL Championships as the defending champion, defeated Yale but fell to 2003 champion Harvard.
Princeton and Harvard have been the dominant powers in EISL men's swimming for a significant stretch, and the 2005 championships look to be another showdown between the two schools. Princeton entered the weekend undefeated, but it was the Crimson who came away with a 225-128 win. The Tigers did defeat the host Yale Bulldogs 221-132.
Will Reinhardt earned Princeton's first win of the weekend by taking the 50 free in 20.56. He came back later to win the 100 free in 44.88, and would eventually lead off the victorious 4x100 free relay team. Geoff Patterson, Jeremy Tillman and Justin Chiles were also part of the relay team that finished in 3:00.35, .08 of a second faster than Harvard's top team.
