PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Tiger's (6-5) look to gain that fifth-consecutive victory as they host the Patriot League's Army (6-5) in a 7 p.m. contest, tonight.
Princeton Game Notes
A Time To Reflect - Princeton has won its last four games and is 6-5 on the season. This is the best win-streak for the Tigers since the 1998-99 season when the orange and black went seven games straight. Freshman Meg Cowher led the team with 28 points and nine rebounds, while junior Becky Brown added 19 points and nine boards in the 67-50 win over Saint Peter's on Monday night.
Conference Rulings- Princeton is 35-28 all-time against the Patriot League and 4-5 under head coach Richard Barron following the 64-51 loss to Lehigh earlier this season.
Highlight Reel - Freshman Meg Cowher scored a season-high 28 points in the Saint Peter's game. Her performance is not only the most scored by any Tiger this season, but it is the most scored by a freshman in a home game at Princeton. Teammate Becky Brown holds the freshman record with 31 points on March 8, 2003 at Columbia. Cowher's 28 points was two better than Claire B. Tomasiewicz's 26 against Mercy College on March 5, 1976 at Seton Hall. Lovely 20's - Junior Becky Brown posted two back-to-back games with 20 points. In the Mount St. Mary's game, she went a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line, shot a .615 from the field and grabbed six rebounds en route to her season-best 21-point game. She picked up a 20-point game and rallied nine rebounds in the following contest at Fairleigh Dickinson.
Leading It Off - Junior Katy O'Brien is second in the league in both assists (4.0) and steals (2.27) a game. In the last three games, O'Brien has tallied 21 assists. She recorded six vs. Mount St. Mary's, seven at Fairleigh Dickinson and eight vs. Saint Peter's. Prior to that she averaged 2.9 per contest.
Getting Grown - Sophomore Katy Digovich recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds in the Fairleigh Dickinson contest. She is third in team scoring (10.1) and was the only Tiger to score in double figures in the first four games this season.
Fresh Feature - Freshman Meagan Cowher earned her third Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolade on Dec. 13, second-consecutive honor. She scored 12 points against Rutgers and 15 points in the 63-53 win over Wagner. Her first accolade came after she made her collegiate debut with a double-double, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime thriller against Monmouth.
Lights Out - Junior Katy O'Brien scored 15 points, all from three-point range, in the 68-46 loss to 20th-ranked Rutgers. She tallied 11 treys in a two-game stretch (Wagner & Rutgers) and posted 36 points, all from converting on the three-ball, including the season high 18 points off the bench at Wagner.
Ahead In Years - Meagan Cowher currently ranks first among her teammates in scoring (12.2) and is tied for second in rebounds (5.1) per game. She also sits at the top of the Ivy League in field goal percentage (.514).
Defense Is Key - Entering into tonight contest Princeton leads the league in scoring defense (56.7). The Tigers held their last three opponents to just under 32% shooting from the field in the game and caused 80 turnovers. Against Fairleigh Dickinson, the Tigers limited the Knights to only three second chance points and zero fast break points, while the Peahen's of Saint Peter's had 24 turnovers.
Give Me That - Princeton has out-rebounded their last three opponents 128-100. As a result of the rebounds, the Tigers have gained more opportunities to the foul line and have more points scored in the paint.
Gone With The Wind - Junior Katy O'Brien garnered a career-high five steals in the St. Mary's contest. She leads all Tigers with 25 steals on the season and is ranked second in the league with 2.22 steals per game.
Stepping Up - Freshman Ariel Rogers played in a season-high 30 minutes versus then 20th-ranked Rutgers. Prior to that contest she averaged nine minutes a game. Rogers tallied three assists, three rebounds, two points, two steals and one block in the game. Rogers then recorded a season-high 10 points in the Mount St. Mary's games. She went 6-6 from the free throw line and grabbed six rebounds, four offensive.
