Needle Pines, N.C. - The Princeton women's golf team used a final-round 302 to climb two positions and finish fourth at the Ross Resorts Invitational at Pine Needles. Princeton's 302 was its lowest round of the tournament and helped it pass Richmond in the final rundown.
The Tigers entered the tournament after the Pat Bradley Championships at Doral in Miami were cancelled due to Hurricane Wilma. Instead, Princeton traveled to North Carolina to another top course to compete at Pine Needles, the home of the 2001 U.S. Women's Open.
Augusta State won the tournament with a three-round total of 905. That tied with Georgia State, but the nod went to Augusta State based on the highest fifth score. Yale was third with a 918 and Princeton was fourth with its 923. Richmond was fifth in the 12-team field.
All seven Tigers playing in the field gained at least one position on the final day of play. Marlowe Boukis was Princeton's top finisher. She shot a final round 73, her second straight, to finish third with a three-round 222. She was three strokes behind the winner, Emelie Geury of Augusta State. Sharla Cloutier climbed three spots to a tie for sixth in the standings with a 73. She completed the three rounds 12 over par with a three-round 225.
Princeton resumes its schedule in the spring.
