Princeton Golf Teams Halfway Through Ivy League Championship Tournament

VERNON, N.J. - The Princeton golf teams, both defending back-to-back Ivy titles, played two rounds Saturday in the Ivy League Championships at Crystal Springs Resort in northwestern New Jersey. Princeton's men lead the field while the Tiger women are third.
The men's team's lead over Columbia is at four shots with 18 holes to play Sunday. Princeton stands at +27 with Columbia at +31. Both have wide leads over the rest of the pack as Penn is at +47, Brown at +49, Yale at +56, Dartmouth at +60, Harvard at +61 and Cornell at +70.
Individually, Brown's Larry Haertel is in first place at even par on the par-72 course. Princeton's top competitor is Jason Gerken, six shots back at +6. Rounding out Princeton's field on the men's side were Andrew Maliniak (+7), John Sawin, Jesse Dixon and Brent Herlihy (+9).
On the women's side, Yale (+56) holds a five-shot lead over Harvard (+61) and nine-shot lead over the Tigers (+65). That group is well ahead of the rest of the field with Penn at +84, Columbia at +86, Brown at +90 and Dartmouth at +104.
Freshman Susannah Aboff is Princeton's top competitor at 14-over, seven shots back of Harvard's Emily Balmert, the overall leader, at +7. Sharla Cloutier is at 16-over while Marlowe Boukis is a shot behind at +17, Caitlin Sullivan is at +18 and Alexis Etow is at +28. The tournament wraps up Sunday.
