Women's Basketball Hosts Penn

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Tigers are 1-1 in conference play and were one basket shy of opening the Ivy League with a sweep on the road. Tonight Princeton hosts Penn, who is 2-0 in the league and 9-6 overall. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and the game can be heard at goprincetontigers.com.
Princeton Game Notes
Reflection Time - Princeton has won its last seven of eight games and is 9-6 entering tonight's match up. The Tigers split their opening Ivy weekend with a win over Yale (56-52), while falling to Brown (63-62). Junior Becky Brown led the squad with 19 against the Bears of Brown and 16 in the Yale contest.
Scouting the Quakers - Penn is 9-6 on the season and 2-0 in league play. Karen Habrukowich leads the Quakers with 11.0 ppg and Jennifer Fleischer is the top-rebounder with 9.5 rpg. Penn handed Brown their first lost, 47-43, in conference action this past weekend. Returning Delight - Sophomore Casey Lockwood made her season debut in last Wednesday's game at Lafayette. Lockwood played 11 minutes in the match up and returned to the lineup after recovering from a torn ACL from last season. She scored nine points and grabbed a rebound in her first four minutes of action.
Over Milestone Hill - With a team-high 16 points Becky Brown broke the 1,000-point plateau. As a junior, Brown become the 14th Tiger in program's history to do so.
Highlight Reel - Freshman Meg Cowher scored a season-high 28 points in the Saint Peter's game. Her performance is not only the most scored by any Tiger this season, but it is the most scored by a freshman in a home game at Princeton. Teammate Becky Brown holds the freshman record with 31 points on March 8, 2003 at Columbia. Cowher's 28 points was two better than Claire B. Tomasiewicz's 26 points against Mercy College on March 5, 1976 at Seton Hall.
Entering Her 20s - Junior Becky Brown scored 20 points or more in four games during a five-game stretch this season. The games includes Mount St. Mary's (21 pts), Fairleigh Dickinson (20 pts), Army (23 pts) and Lafayette (24 pts). Brown scored 19 in both the Saint Peter's game and the Brown game, two points shy of six straight.
Feeding The Posts - Junior Katy O'Brien is second in the league with 4.27 assists per game. O'Brien recorded eight assists versus both Saint Peter's and Lafayette. Prior to that she averaged 2.9 per contest.
Free-bees - Sophomore Katy Digovich has shot 80% on the season from the charity stripe. With only eight seconds to play in the Brown contest, Digovich stepped to the free throw line and calmly made both attempts to tie the ball game at 62. She currently ranks sixth in the league in free throw percentage.
Lights Out - Junior Katy O'Brien went 4 for 10 from beyond the arc and scored 12 points against Brown. O'Brien has nailed 31 threes this season and is averaging 2.07 a game, which places her second in the Ivy league and paces the team with a .373 three-point field goal percentage.
Ahead In Years - Meagan Cowher currently ranks second among her teammates in scoring (12.8) and in rebounds (5.3) per game. She also sits at the top of the Ivy League in field goal percentage (.513).
Crashing the Boards - Princeton was out-rebounded by both Ivy opponents 70-57 and were out-scored in second chance points 14-28.
Gone With The Wind - Junior Katy O'Brien garnered a career-high five steals in the St. Mary's contest. She leads all Tigers with 34 steals on the season and is ranked second in the league with 2.27 steals per game. Sophomore Elyse Umeda has chipped in 21 steals this season and tallied seven this past weekend.
Dominate the Paint - Princeton dominated the paint during its Ivy play by scoring 48 points in the paint. Both Brown and Yale combined for 34 points underneath the rim in both games.
