Women's Tennis Opens Season with 4-3 Win over Richmond

The Princeton women's tennis team began its 2005 spring season with a 4-3 victory over Richmond at the Jadwin Gym tennis courts Saturday afternoon.
Princeton earned the victory with wins at the bottom half of its singles lineup, two of which came in three-set marathons. Alison Hashmall won at No. 3, defeating Courtney Klein 6-4 in the third set, while freshman Brittany Holland beat Meghan Wolfgram in three sets at No. 4 by winning the final set 6-3.
The Tigers' most impressive win came at No. 5, where Joanna Roth lost just two games, both in the first set, in a victory against Jelena Zivanovic.
Richmond played with just five players, giving Princeton a win at No. 6 singles by default and at No. 3 doubles. The Spiders did take the doubles point, however, winning tight matches at Nos. 1 and 2. Princeton hosts Temple Sunday at the Jadwin courts at 1 p.m.
