Women's Water Polo Completes Perfect Princeton Invitational After Topping Brown

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton women's water polo team completed its game at the Princeton Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating Brown 8-4 Sunday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool. After falling behind 2-1 in the first quarter, the Tigers scored three unanswered goals in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Overall we were very please with the weekend," said Princeton head coach Luis Nicolao. "It was great to see all of our girls get a chance to compete."
Brown's Meredith Daniels scored twice in the first quarter to give Brown a 2-1 lead, before Karina Reyner cut the lead in half with a minute remaining. In the second quarter Elyse Colgan scored twice in the first two minutes to give Princeton its first lead. Carolina Ardila also added a goal in the quarter as the Tigers went ahead 4-2 at halftime.
Each team traded a pair of goals in the third quarter as Megan Donahue and Danielle Carlson extended Princeton's lead to 6-2 before Liz Balassone scored twice for Brown to make it 6-4. Princeton added two more goals in the fourth, one from Colgan and one from Carlson for the 8-4 final.

Princeton is now 4-0 overall and will compete at the Bucknell Invitational next weekend. Princeton opens the tournament against Slippery Rock on Saturday at noon.
