PRINCETON, N.J. -- After taking to the road for almost a month, the Princeton softball team will open play at 1895 Field on Tuesday March 29 at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader against Fairfield.
The Tigers split their trip to Boston University, this past weekend, with a 4-1 win over the Terriers before falling 6-5 in the second game. Senior Melissa Finley leads Princeton (15-7) offensively with a .381 batting average and .698 slugging percentage. Last season, Finley was 3-3, scored one run and tallied four RBIs. Junior Erin Snyder is the third-best career strikeout leader with 432 and she holds a .93 era on the season.
The Stags enter this contest with a 9-11 record on the season. Fairfield has had the last three games, including the Stags Softball classic, postponed due to inclement weather. The Stags last played on March 11, where they defeated Robert Morris 4-3. Cagney Ringnalda (2-5) leads the pitching staff with a 2.88 era, while Julia Jacoby's .379 batting average complements her eight RBIs on the season.
Princeton swept Fairfield in two games, 5-2 and 4-0, in Fairfield, Conn., last year.
