Princeton Hosts Harvard, Dartmouth In Softball

PRINCETON. N.J. - The Princeton softball team will host two conference doubleheaders this weekend at the Class of 1895 Field. Action begins on Saturday, April 16 as Harvard sets the stage at 1 p.m. and then play will conclude against Dartmouth on Sunday at noon. Princeton, currently, leads the Ivy League with a 5-1 league record, but both the Crimson and Big Green have one loss and are posted at 3-1.
The Tigers (25-12) dropped a doubleheader against Towson in a midweek showdown earlier this week. Princeton fell 5-2 in game one and then 4-3 in the second contest. Freshman Beth Dalmut recorded her second home run with a bomb in the seventh inning of game two and gave Princeton its 30 homer of the season, tying the second-best bomb squad of 2003 in program's history.
Junior Cristina Cobb-Adams leads Princeton offensively with a .357 batting average, 41 hits and three stolen bases.
Freshman Kristen Schaus (9-6) and junior Erin Snyder (12-2) lead the Ivy League with 147 and 142 strikeouts, respectively. Snyder has six shutouts, while Schaus has pitched four.
The Crimson softball team, who has lost the last five contests, including four on the road, enters this weekend with a 10-15-1 overall record after dropping a doubleheader against Boston University on Thursday afternoon. Harvard fell 4-3 in eight innings, before a 9-3 contest was called due to darkness.
Leading from the mound for Harvard is Shelly Madick (5-3) who holds a 2.68 era in 49.2 innings pitched and tallied one shutout this season. On the offensive side, Danielle Kerper possesses a .603 slugging percentage and a team-leading 19 RBIs. The Big Green softball team (7-13-1) split a non-conference doubleheader at home against Central Connecticut on Thursday. Dartmouth won the first game, 8-0, then dropped a 5-0 contest in game two.
Kelly Fry has started all 21 games for the Big Green and holds a .492 slugging percentage while driving in 12 runners. Angela Megaw (2-4) leads all pitchers with a 3.09 era in 46.2 innings.
Princeton dropped two in its doubleheader at Harvard last season. Princeton fell 2-1 in 20 innings, before slipping 3-0 in game two. Against Dartmouth the Tigers won game one, 7-0 and then lost 9-8 in the second game.
