Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team hits the road this weekend for a pair of Ivy League doubleheaders at Dartmouth and Harvard. The weekend will feature the team's that have been atop the league for the past decade as Princeton, Dartmouth and Harvard are the only three teams to have played in the year-end Ivy League Championship Series in the span.
In that time, Princeton has won five Ivy titles to Harvard's four. Dartmouth, this season's favorite as chosen by Baseball America has played in the series three times, but has not been able to advance.
Princeton (9-12, 4-0 Ivy) enters the weekend following a loss Thursday at Monmouth. Prior to that the Tigers had won five consecutive games. Princeton opened its Ivy League season earlier this week as rain pushed back the weekend's doubleheaders to Monday and Tuesday. In addition, Princeton was forced to play its games away from its home field, although Princeton was considered the home team for all four games.
On Monday at Yale, Princeton had two come-from-behind wins to sweep the Bulldogs. In Game 1, the Tigers scored a run to knot the game 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh and then senior Will Venable ended the game with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. In Game 2, Princeton trailed 8-3 entering the seventh inning, but two runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings lifted Princeton to the second win.
Tuesday at Brown was a little less dramatic. In Game 1, junior Erik Stiller three-hit the Bears as the Tigers earned a 4-0 shutout. For Stiller it was his third win of the season and has now not allowed an opponent to score a run in 21 innings. In Game 2, the score went back-and-forth throughout the first seven innings until Princeton broke a 6-6 tie with six runs in the eighth to earn a 12-6 win. Setting the Stage for Saturday

Gavin Fabian (2-1, 3.18 ERA) vs. Jeff Wilkerson (0-2, 3.21 ERA)

Princeton and Dartmouth will meet in a rematch of last season's Ivy League Championship Series. The Big Green won the Rolfe Division in 2000, 2001 and 2004 to play the Tigers in the Championship Series, but Princeton took the championship honors from Dartmouth took in both seasons, winning once at home and twice in Hanover.
Dartmouth is currently 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy League. The Big Green comes into Saturday off a two-game sweep Tuesday at Columbia. Prior to that, Dartmouth had dropped nine in a row, including its first two league games at Penn. Dartmouth also has wins this season over Bucknell, Northern Iowa and St. Francis. The teams have played no common opponents.
Last season Dartmouth and Princeton met four times with the Tigers taking three of the games. The two teams split in the first weekend of the Ivy season at Clarke Field and then Princeton swept Dartmouth in Hanover in the Ivy League Championship series. This season marks the first time since 1999 that Princeton and Dartmouth will be able to play their regular scheduled games in Hanover. In 2001, the games were played at Quinnipiac and in 2003 they were played at Cornell.
