PRINCETON - The Princeton men's lightweight crew fell to Georgetown in multiple races last season, but Joe Murtaugh's squad showed that 2005 was a new season altogether. Princeton defeated Georgetown in all four races, including the crucial top varsity competition.
At home on Lake Carnegie, the top varsity boat came in at 6:15.6, while Georgetown finished 3.1 seconds behind. The second and third varsities also had strong wins, but none as impressive as the victory for the first freshman boat. Outside of the top varsity race, no crew raced faster than Princeton's first varsity eight, which finished in 6:29.0 to win by more than 20 seconds.
Princeton will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., next weekend to compete against Rutgers and Cornell.
