Princeton, N.J. - George Washington shot a three-round 881 to edge host Princeton in the 2005 Princeton Men's Golf Invitational. The Colonials shot rounds of 297, 292 and 292 to finish +29 for the tournament, just a shot ahead of Princeton's 882 (306-284-292). Maryland's John Eades took the top inidividual spot.
Princeton's second-place finish was three strokes ahead of third-place St. Joseph's. Towson and Maryland completed the top five in the 17-team field.
Princeton's top finisher was Jason Gerken. He tied for ninth with a three-round 219. That placed him five strokes behind Eades in first. Gerken's low round was a 70 in the third round to go with a 78 and 71 on the first day.
Jesse Disxon came next for Princeton with a 222 (76-74-72) to tie for 16th. Princeton's other three scoring players all tied for 22nd with 224. Creighton Page shot 77-72-75. John Sawin shot 75-72-77 and Brent Herlihy went 80-69-75. Herlihy's 69 tied with Eades for the low round of the tournament.
Princeotn had three individual competitors. John Locke tied for 42nd with a 230 (76-76-78), David Huestis tied for 80th (79-77-84) and Aaron Louv was 90th (94-91-99). Princeton continues its season next weekend with the Ivy League Championships.
