Meagan Cowher Named To USA Basketball Trials List

PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman forward Meagan Cowher of the Princeton women's basketball team was added to the USA Trials roster, as announced by USA Basketball today in Colorado Springs, Colo. Cowher will join the 60 top American players on Thursday, May 19 in hopes to earn a finalist slot with the USA World Championship or USA World University Games teams.
Cowher, who earned the first Ivy League Rookie of the Year honor, was one of three players added to the list of Trials participants, including Morenike Atunrase (Texas A&M) and Krista VandeVenter (Iowa), today.
Cowher played in 21 games and earned 19 starts during her freshman campaign. She finished the season second on the team in scoring (11.1) and third in the conference in field goal percentage (.500). Cowher recorded a career-high 28 points and nine rebounds versus Saint Peter's on Jan. 3. In her first-collegiate game, she tallied her first of two double-doubles with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Her second double-double of the season (19 points, 12 rebounds) was in the Army win on Jan. 5.
The 2005 USA Basketball Women's National Team Trials Invitations were named by the USA Basketball Women's Collegiate Committee, chaired by Sue Donohoe, NCAA vice-president for Division I women's basketball. The 2005 USA Basketball Women's National Team Trials run from May 19-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
Following the Trials the USA Collegiate Committee will announce the 12 finalists for the 2005 USA Women's U19 World Championship Team (formerly known as the Junior World Championship Team) and the USA World University Games 12-member team.
