Stanford, Calif. - The Princeton men's golf team sits 24th after two rounds at the 2005 NCAA West Regional at Stanford's Golf Course in California. Princeton used a second-round 301 to gain two spots in the rundown and sits within three strokes of 21st. Creighton Page shot his second consecutive 73 and leads the Princeton fivesome in a tie for 46th at 146, six over par. The tournament concludes with the third and final round tomorrow.
Princeton shot a 306 in Round 1, which when combined with the second round 301, puts Princeton at 607, 47 shots above par, and 48 strokes behind first-place UNLV. Princeton is 28 strokes behind 10th-place USC, which currently holds the final transfer spot to the NCAA Championship. Princeton passed Illinois State and Central Connecticut in today's round, and sit within three strokes of Cal Poly, Texas-Arlington and Colorado State.
Behind Page, Jesse Dixon and Jason Gerken are tied for 82nd at 150, 10 over par. Gerken shot a 73 today while Dixon shot 76. Brent Herlihy is 135th with a 23-over 163 and John Sawin is tied for 138th with a +28 168.
