Venable, Lumry Sign Pro Baseball Contracts

Princeton, N.J. - A pair of recent Princeton baseball graduates, Will Venable and Worth Lumry, have signed pro contracts after being chosen in the 2005 Major League Draft on June 7. Lumry agreed to terms with the Seattle Mariners on Monday, while Venable and the Padres came to an agreement on Thursday.
Both players will report to their respective clubs extended spring training facilities, before receiving their assignments. Both teams have their facilities based in Peoria, Ariz.
Venable, Will likely begin his pro career in either Short Season Class A ball or Rookie ball. If the Padres choose A, Venable will be placed on the roster of Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. For Rookie ball, the Padres have an Arizona Summer League team based in Peoria.
The Mariners have the same two options with Lumry, Short Season Class A ball or Rookie ball. Seattle's SS Class A team is the Everett (Wash.) Aqua Socks of the Northwest League, while its' Rookie League team is an Arizona Summer League team based in Peoria.
Both the Short Season Class A and Rookie League season begin next week.
