Princeton, N.J. - Senior reliever Worth Lumry became the second Tiger chosen in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft when the Seattle Mariners selected him yesterday in the 46th round of the draft. Lumry becomes the 12th Tiger drafted since 1998.
Lumry was Princeton second draft pick of the 2005 draft, following senior outfielder Will Venable, who went in the seventh round to San Diego. In the past two drafts, Princeton has had seven selections among six players. Venable was drafted in each season.
Lumry, a native of the Seattle area, went 1-2 as a senior with an 8.41 ERA in 20 and a third innings pitched. As a left-handed submariner, Lumry proved especially tough on left-handed batters, which hit just .200 against him.
He becomes the 12th Tiger drafted in the past seven seasons that have played under head coach Scott Bradley.
