Becky Brown Earns Ivy League Women's Basketball Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior center Becky Brown has been named the Ivy League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the extended holiday span. Princeton's games against Tennessee, Mt. St. Mary's and Fairleigh Dickinson were included in the honor. It is the second award of the year for Brown and third in a row for a Princeton player.
Brown scored 56 points in the three games and rose two places to fourth on Princeton's all-time scoring list. She now has 1,337 points in her career. Against No. 1 Tennessee on Dec. 20, Brown shot 6 for 7 from the field, scoring 12 points. She followed that up with an 11 for 14 performance on Dec. 28 against Mt. St. Mary's, netting 26 points, the most since her sophomore year. She also had 11 rebounds in the game, marking her 12th career double-double and fifth of the year. Against Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 30, Brown had 18 points and eight rebounds to go with two blocks on 9 for 14 shooting. For the month, Brown hit 26 of 35 attempts from the field, a .743 percentage.
Brown's .658 season shooting percentage ranks sixth in the nation through games of Jan. 2.
Sophomore Meagan Cowher won the last award, presented Dec. 19, following Brown's first award of the season on Dec. 12. In November, freshman Jessica Berry earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors.
Brown and the Tigers host Lafayette on Tuesday at Jadwin Gym. With a win, Princeton can match a program record with nine pre-Ivy wins, a total not achieved since the 1995-96 season. With 31 points, Brown can move into third place on the all-time school scoring list. The game tips off at 7 p.m.
