No. 15 Princeton Defeats Johns Hopkins 14-12, Falls at No. 10 Navy

BALTIMORE -- The 15th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team improved to 4-1 in league play with a 14-12 win at Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon. Princeton dropped a tight decision on Saturday night at No. 10 Navy 10-8.
The game was tight through the first half as each team scored five goals. Princeton broke out to an 11-6 lead at the end of the third quarter, then held on for a 14-12 win as the Blue Jays scored six goals in the final quarter.
Sophomore Eric Vreeland led the offense with five goals for Princeton as he extended his team lead to 38 goals this season, which is 17 more than he scored last season as a freshman. Seven other Tigers scored in the game, all with a single goal.

The Tigers returned to action on Saturday night at 10th-ranked Navy and lost to the Midshipmen 10-8, marking the third time this season that Navy has beaten the Tigers by two goals. Navy controlled all the action in the early going, racing to a 5-1 lead at the half. Princeton picked things up in the second half and got to withing one goal of Navy at 8-7, but was unable to draw even and Navy added a goal before Princeton could even things up. Senior Reid Joseph and freshman Mark Zalewski each scored twice in the game, while four others added single goals. Junior Scott Syverson made six saves.
