WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Princeton senior John Sawin is tied for second place with one round to play at the Joe Agee Invitational, hosted by William and Mary. As a team, the Tigers are fourth, 15 shots off the pace set by Loyola (Md.) College.
Sawin followed up his first-round 71 with a 66 to move closer to the top of the leaderboard, standing tied with Jordan Utley of Richmond and only one shot behind Blake Ferguson of Loyola. While Sawin is at -3, rookie Juan Pablo Candela is also in the top 10 in eighth place with a 68 and 72 on the first day to stand at even par.
Rounding out the Princeton contingent, freshman Tom Klingman is tied for 47th at +10 (76-74), sophomore Max Schechter stands tied for 55th at +12 (78-74), and sophomore Andrew Maliniak is tied for 78th at +16 (82-74).
On the team leaderboard, Loyola has a one-shot lead over second-place Old Dominion, which nearly closed a double-digit gap by chopping 17 shots off its first-round score. Richmond is in third place, 12 shots off the pace and three ahead of Princeton. Play concludes Tuesday.
