Young Among Major Leaguers Competing At 2006 Japan All-Star Series

Former Princeton two-sport star and current San Diego Padre pitcher Chris Young is one of 27 current Major Leaguers competing against Japanese All-Stars at the 2006 Japan All-Star Series.
Young will get the ball in the opening exhibition game on Thursday at the Tokyo Dome when the Major League All-Stars face the Yomiuri Giants. The remaining five games will be played against the Japanese League All-Stars.

Young recently finished his first season in the National League with San Diego and was 11-5 with a 3.46 ERA in 31 games started. He struck out 164 batters in 179 innings and had the sixth best ERA in the National League.
Young also made his postseason debut this past fall, picking up the Padres' lone win in a three games to one series loss to the eventual World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. Young allowed four hits and struck out nine in six and two-thirds shutout innings in winning the third game of the National League Division Series.
