Final Stats
PRINCETON - Led by a record-breaking performance from sophomore diver Stuart Malcolm, the Princeton men's swimming and diving team sent the Class of 2006 out as winners in its final home meet at Denunzio Pool. Meir Hasbani and Robert Griest combined for five individual wins to lead Princeton past Navy and Columbia.
Malcolm scored 350.20 on the 3-meter board, giving him the record and a tight win over the Navy's Kevin Teague. Malcolm, already an NCAA Zone qualifier, showed that he will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Of course, forces like Will Reinhardt have been around for four years at Princeton, and Reinhardt anchored Princeton's 400 medley relay team to a win in the first event of the evening. It set into motion a rout for the Tigers, who have never lost in Denunzio Pool.
Griest opened the individual events by winning the 1000 (9:15.69), and he came back later to win the 500 in 4:32.70. Hasbani topped him with his own triple crown, winning the 200 IM in 1:50.06, the 200 butterfly in 1:47.64 and the 200 breast in 2:06.26.
Reinhardt won the final 50 he would ever race at Denunzio (20.00), while freshman Doug Lennox took the 100 free in 45.52, showing that there would be a strong sprinter in the future for the Tigers. Zee added a win in the 200 back in a time of 1:49.86. All swimming times can be found on the above link. Diving results are below.
