PRINCETON - Princeton senior outfielder Andrew Salini was named the first Ivy League Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performances through the first two weeks of the season. Salini came out swinging and is batting .375 through seven games with five home runs and 12 RBIs.
Princeton is 3-4 following two weekends of play. Salini posted two four-RBI games and hit home runs in all three games against Richmond last weekend as the Tigers won two of three from the Spiders. Salini is batting .375 on the season with nine hits in 24 trips to the plate, and he leads the team in the early going with a 1.083 slugging percentage.
Princeton freshman outfielder Andrew Doupe was named to the League's Honor Roll. He appeared in five of the Tigers' first seven games and is batting .316 with hits in four straight games. Doupe has driven in five runs and scored four. Last week at Richmond he hit two-run homers in back-to-back contests.
Princeton returns to the field on Saturday with a doubleheader at Western Carolina.
