LOS ANGELES - Princeton got singles wins from Shannon Morales and Alex Vuckovic but fell by a 5-2 score to Loyola Marymount in a match played Monday afternoon in California.
The Tigers played well in doubles, but LMU clinched the doubles point when Nicolas Terrien and Michael Chan defeated Darius Craton and Shannon Morales 8-6 at No. 3. The Lions then won three singles matches in straight sets to clinch the match.
Morales, at No. 4 singles, had an impressive performance against Linas Cicenas, losing just three games on the way to a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory. At No. 6, Vuckovic split sets with Carlos Malet, losing the first set in a tiebreak, before defeating Malet 10-7 in a deciding proset.
At No. 2 singles, Craton won the first set against Michael Wojnarowicz before falling in a tiebreak in the second set. Wojnarowicz then won a proset to take the match.
The Tigers continue their Spring Break schedule on Tuesday, playing Washington in a match that will be played on the Pepperdine campus in Malibu.
