PRINCETON - The top-ranked Princeton crew opened its 2006 season in impressive fashion Saturday, claiming the Logg Cup by more than 18 seconds over Rutgers at Lake Carnegie. Princeton swept all three races during the day, including a big win from a freshman eight boat makings its collegiate debut.
The varsity eight came in at 5:42.5, well ahead of Rutgers' time of 6:00.6. The second varsity eight also earned a win in 5:56.8, while the novice eight won in 5:53.2.
Princeton will compete for the historic Childs Cup next weekend on Lake Carnegie against both Penn and Columbia. The first race begins at 11 a.m.
