HANOVER, N.H. - The Princeton softball team will have to wait one more day to try and wrap up an NCAA Championship bid. Persistent rain in the Northeast has forced the postponement of the Tigers' Sunday games at Dartmouth to Monday at 2 p.m. With two wins, Princeton would capture an Ivy League title and a place in softball's NCAA field of 64.
Princeton holds a two-game lead over Cornell, which has four games remaining. If the Tigers sweep the Big Green Monday, Princeton would finish with two league losses to Cornell's three.
The program has won 15 Ivy titles since gaining varsity status in 1982. Princeton made its first trip to the NCAA Championship in 1994 and followed with five other appearances including three of the last four years. Head coach Maureen Barron has been involved in all six either as a coach or a player and would be the first coach to take Princeton to four NCAA Championships if the Tigers won two Monday.
