Baseball Placed in Fayetteville Regional; Will Face Oklahoma State on Friday

PRINCETON - The Princeton baseball team will open the 2006 NCAA Baseball Tournament this Friday when it meets Oklahoma State at Baum Stadium in the Fayetteville Regional. Arkansas will host the Regional as a two-seed and will face Oral Roberts. Princeton was the first team to qualify for the tournament when it captured its third Ivy League title in four years on May 6.
Princeton last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2004 when it played at Virginia and took the opening game against Cavaliers before falling to Vanderbilt and Virginia in the Regional. The previous year, Princeton went to a regional at Auburn.
Princeton and Oral Roberts each won their conferences in 2006, while Arkansas and Oklahoma State were both at-large selections.
During the regular season, Princeton faced one NCAA tournament teams, posting a record of 1-1 in the two games, which both came against Lehigh this past weekend.
Princeton and Oklahoma State last met in March of 2003 when the Cowboys took a 6-3 win in a neutral site game at North Carolina State. The Cowboys also won three from Princeton in 2001 in Stillwater.
