FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Christian Staehely was Princeton's lone representative on the 2006 NCAA Fayetteville Regional's All-Tournament Team. Staehely started Saturday's game with Arkansas and held the host Razorbacks hitless through seven innings. Staehely completed the season with a 5-2 record and a 2.57 ERA.
Staehely becomes the second Tiger in recent history to be named to an All-Regional team. Catcher Tim Lahey was named to the All-Tournament team at Auburn in 2003.
Staehely's line for the game on Saturday was seven innings pitched, one hit, four runs, five walks and three strikeouts. After moving through the first seven innings, he walked the leadoff hitter in the eighth on a close 3-2 pitch, then walked the next batter. Arkansas planned to sacrifice the runners over but Princeton could not get the out at third and the bases were loaded for James Ewing, whose double, the team's first hit of the game, cleared the bases and gave Arkansas the lead.
Following the hit, Staehely left the game to a standing ovation from the Arkansas crowd.
