Krueger-Wyman Finishes in Top Five in ITA Summer Circuit West Region Standings
August 15, 2006 | Men's Tennis
Princeton men's tennis sophomore Alex Krueger-Wyman (Pasadena, Calif.) finished in fourth place in the standings in the West region of the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit played during the month of July.
The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit presented by the USTA provides college tennis players the opportunity to compete in organized events virtually year round. It is made up of six regional circuits (East, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Southwest and West) and each region consists of four consecutive tournaments leading up to the ITA National Summer Championships in August. Players accumulate points based on their performance and advancement in a given tournament.
Krueger-Wyman advanced to the semifinals of the singles draw at the second of four West region tournaments, held at Ventura College July 15-18. He then did one better the next week at a tournament held at Cal Poly, advancing to the final of the 64-player draw before falling to East Tennessee State's Sebastian Serrano in a third-set proset after splitting the first two sets. Earlier that day, he advanced to the final by defeating Daniel Escobedo in a proset after losing the first set in a tiebreak.
Krueger-Wyman made his mark as a doubles player in his freshman season at Princeton, playing in 16 spring matches at No. 2 doubles for the Tigers along with Ted Mabrey, Hans Plukas and fellow freshman Alex Vuckovic. He also had a 1-2 singles record while playing at the Nos. 3 and 4 positions.
